रोगाद्वायुं पितृतो हुताशनं शोषसूत्रं अपि वितथात् । मुख्याद्भृशं जयन्ताच्च भृङ्गं अदितेश्च सुग्रीवम् ॥ ५३-६१ ॥

The diagonal line, from the Roga Deva (73) to Vāyu Deva (9) is known as a Vaṃśa. The diagonal line from Pitṛ Deva (81) to Agni Deva (1) is another Vaṃśa. A line drawn from Vitatha Deva (27) to Śoṣa Deva (75) is also a Vaṃśa. and that drawn from Mukhya Deva (55) to Bhṛśa Deva (7) is another Vaṃśa. A line drawn from Jayanta Deva (3) to Bhṛṅgarāja (63) is also a Vaṃśa, and a line drawn from Aditi (19) to Sugrīva (79) is another Vaṃśa.

rogAdvAyuM pitRto hutAzanaM zoSasUtraM api vitathAt । mukhyAdbhRzaM jayantAcca bhRGgaM aditezca sugrIvam ॥ 53-61 ॥

तत्सम्पाता नव ये तान्यतिमर्माणि सम्प्रदिष्टानि । यश्च पदस्याष्टांशस्तत्प्रोक्तं मर्मपरिमाणम् ॥ ५३-६२ ॥

The six lines cut one another in nine points. These points are known as Atimarma places. The area of a Marmasthala is equal to one-eighth of the area of a square.

english translation

tatsampAtA nava ye tAnyatimarmANi sampradiSTAni । yazca padasyASTAMzastatproktaM marmaparimANam ॥ 53-62 ॥

पदहस्तसंख्यया सम्मितानि वंशो अङ्गुलानि विस्तीर्णः । वंशव्यासो अध्यर्धः शिराप्रमाणं विनिर्दिष्टम् ॥ ५३-६३ ॥

The breadth of a Vaṃśa line is as many digits as the length of a side of a square is in yards, and the length of a Sira is one and a half times the breadth of the Vaṃśa line.

padahastasaMkhyayA sammitAni vaMzo aGgulAni vistIrNaH । vaMzavyAso adhyardhaH zirApramANaM vinirdiSTam ॥ 53-63 ॥

सुखं इच्छन्ब्रह्माणं यत्नाद्रक्षेद्गृही गृहान्तःस्थम् । उच्छिष्टऽद्युपघाताद्गृहपतिरुपतप्यते तस्मिन् ॥ ५३-६४ ॥

If the master of the house desire prosperity, he shall take particular care of the portion of the house which is the seat of Brahmā. If this portion be defiled by impurities, the master of the house will suffer miseries.

sukhaM icchanbrahmANaM yatnAdrakSedgRhI gRhAntaHstham । ucchiSTa'dyupaghAtAdgRhapatirupatapyate tasmin ॥ 53-64 ॥

दक्षिणभुजेन हीने वास्तुनरे अर्थक्षयो अङ्गनादादोषाः । वामे अर्थधान्यहानिः शिरसि गुणैर्हीयते सर्वैः ॥ ५३-६५ ॥

If the right arm of the Vāstupuruṣa be wanting, there will be loss of wealth and women will lose their character; if the left arm be wanting, there will be loss of wealth and grain; if the head be wanting, every virtue will quit the household.

english translation

dakSiNabhujena hIne vAstunare arthakSayo aGganAdAdoSAH । vAme arthadhAnyahAniH zirasi guNairhIyate sarvaiH ॥ 53-65 ॥
