श्रेष्ठं नन्द्यावर्तं सर्वेषां वर्धमानसंज्ञं च । स्वस्तिकरुचके मध्ये शेषं शुभदं नृपऽदीनाम् ॥ ५३-३६ ॥
The Nandyāvarta and Vardhamāna houses are the best; the Svastika and Rucaka houses are of middle importance, and the remaining house known as Sarvatobhadra, is best fitted for kings to live in,

zreSThaM nandyAvartaM sarveSAM vardhamAnasaMjJaM ca । svastikarucake madhye zeSaM zubhadaM nRpa'dInAm ॥ 53-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तरशालाहीनं हिरण्यनाभं त्रिशालकं धन्यम् । प्राक्शालया वियुक्तं सुक्षेत्रं वृद्धिदं वास्तु ॥ ५३-३७ ॥
The house which has inner verandahs on all excepting the northern side, is known as Hiraṇyanābha. It brings on wealth. The house which has inner verandahs on all excepting the eastern side, is known as Sukṣetra. It brings on prosperity.
english translation
uttarazAlAhInaM hiraNyanAbhaM trizAlakaM dhanyam । prAkzAlayA viyuktaM sukSetraM vRddhidaM vAstu ॥ 53-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयाम्याहीनं चुल्ली त्रिशालकं वित्तनाशकरं एतत् । पक्षघ्नं अपरया वर्जितं सुतध्वंसवैरकरम् ॥ ५३-३८ ॥
The house which has inner verandahs on all excepting the southern side, is known as Cullī. It destroys wealth. The house which has inner verandahs on all excepting the western side, is known as Pakṣaghma. It brings on the death of the sons and produces enmity.
english translation
yAmyAhInaM cullI trizAlakaM vittanAzakaraM etat । pakSaghnaM aparayA varjitaM sutadhvaMsavairakaram ॥ 53-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसिद्धार्थं अपरयाम्ये यमसूर्यं पश्चिमोत्तरे शाले । दण्डाख्यं उदक्पूर्वे वातऽख्यं प्राग्युता याम्या ॥ ५३-३९ ॥
The house which has inner verandahs on the western and southern sides is known as Siddhārtha. and the house which has inner verandahs on the western and northern sides is known as Yamasūrya; that which has inner verandahs on the eastern and northern sides is known as Daṇḍa, and that which has such verandahs on the eastern and southern sides, is known as Vāta.
english translation
siddhArthaM aparayAmye yamasUryaM pazcimottare zAle । daNDAkhyaM udakpUrve vAta'khyaM prAgyutA yAmyA ॥ 53-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपूर्वापरे तु शाले गृहचुल्ली दक्षिणोत्तरे काचम् । सिद्धार्थे अर्थावाप्तिर्यमसूर्ये गृहपतेर्मृत्युः ॥ ५३-४० ॥
The house which has inner verandahs on the eastern and western sides is known as Gṛhacullī, and that which has such verandahs on the northern and southern sides is known as Kāca. The Siddhārtha house will bring on wealth and the Yamasūrya house will bring on the death of the master.
