सूत्रे प्रसार्यमाणे गर्दभरावो अस्थिशल्यं आचष्टे । श्वशृगाललङ्घिते वा सूत्रे शल्यं विनिर्देश्यम् ॥ ५३-१०६ ॥

If when the rope is tied up, the ass is heard to cry, bone lies buried; and the same thing may be declared in case the rope is crossed over by a dog or a jackal.

english translation

sUtre prasAryamANe gardabharAvo asthizalyaM AcaSTe । zvazRgAlalaGghite vA sUtre zalyaM vinirdezyam ॥ 53-106 ॥

दिशि शान्तायां शकुनिर् मधुरविरावी यदा तदा वाच्यः । अर्थस्तस्मिन्स्थाने गृहेश्वराधिष्ठिते अङ्गे वा ॥ ५३-१०७ ॥

If birds are seen to sing melodiously, facing the quarter opposite to the Sun, there is treasure under ground either at the spot where the master of the house stands or in that part of Vāstupuruṣa’s body, which corresponds to the part of body, touched by the master of the house.

english translation

dizi zAntAyAM zakunir madhuravirAvI yadA tadA vAcyaH । arthastasminsthAne gRhezvarAdhiSThite aGge vA ॥ 53-107 ॥

सूत्रच्छेदे मृत्युः कीले चावाङ्मुखे महगः । गृहनाथस्थपतीनां स्मृतिलोपे मृत्युरादेश्यः ॥ ५३-१०८ ॥

If the rope should break there would be death; if the peg should come out or be found turned upside down, there would be severe disease; and if the master of the house or the builders should forget to take with them any necessary substance or article, there would also be death.

स्कन्धाच्च्युते शिरोरुक्कुलोपसर्गो अपवर्जिते कुम्भे । भग्ने अपि च कर्मिवधश्च्युते कराद्गृहपतेर्मृत्युः ॥ ५३-१०९ ॥

If the water pot should slip down the shoulder, there would be headache. If the water should run out, the family would suffer; if the pot should be broken, the servants would die; and if it slip down from the hand, the master of the house would die.

skandhAccyute zirorukkulopasargo apavarjite kumbhe । bhagne api ca karmivadhazcyute karAdgRhapatermRtyuH ॥ 53-109 ॥

दक्षिणपूर्वे कोणे कृत्वा पूजां शिलां न्यसेत्प्रथमम् । शेषाः प्रदक्षिणेन स्तम्भाश्चएवं समुत्थाप्य ॥ ५३-११० ॥

After finishing the pūjā, the first foundation stone shall be laid on the north-eastern corner, and then, all round from left to right, the other stones shall be laid. The pillars shall also be erected, in the same order.

dakSiNapUrve koNe kRtvA pUjAM zilAM nyasetprathamam । zeSAH pradakSiNena stambhAzcaevaM samutthApya ॥ 53-110 ॥
