तत एव दशा ग्राह्या क्रमाद् वोत्क्रमतो द्विजः । बलस्याऽत्र विचारे स्यादग्रहात् सग्रहो बली ॥ १६१॥
The Rāśi, which has a Grah, placed in it, is considered more powerful than the Rāśi without a Grah in it. If both are with Grahas in them, the one with more Grahas would be considered more powerful.
english translation
tata eva dazA grAhyA kramAd votkramato dvijaH । balasyA'tra vicAre syAdagrahAt sagraho balI ॥ 161॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्वावेव सग्रहौ तौ चेत् बली तत्राधिकग्रहः । ग्रहयोगसमानत्वे ज्ञेयं राशिबलाद् बलम् ॥ १६२॥
If both Rāśis are occupied by an equal number of Grahas, the strength of the Rāśi itself should be taken into account. The principle for considering the Bal of the Rāśi is, that the Fixed Rāśi is considered stronger than the Movable one and the Dual Rāśi is considered more powerful than the Fixed Rāśi.

dvAveva sagrahau tau cet balI tatrAdhikagrahaH । grahayogasamAnatve jJeyaM rAzibalAd balam ॥ 162॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptज्ञेयाश्चरस्थिरद्वन्द्वाः क्रमतो बलशालिनः । राशिसत्त्वसमानत्वे बहुवर्षो बली भवेद् ॥ १६३॥
If there is equality in the strength of the Rāśis, then to determine the number of years of Dasha counting should be done up to the Rāśi with bigger number.
english translation
jJeyAzcarasthiradvandvAH kramato balazAlinaH । rAzisattvasamAnatve bahuvarSo balI bhaved ॥ 163॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकः स्वोच्चगतश्चाऽन्यः परत्र यदि संस्थितः । गृह्णीयादुच्चखेटस्थं राशिमन्यं विहाय वै ॥ १६४॥
If one Rāśi is occupied by a Grah in exaltation, the counting should be done up to that Rāśi only.
english translation
ekaH svoccagatazcA'nyaH paratra yadi saMsthitaH । gRhNIyAduccakheTasthaM rAzimanyaM vihAya vai ॥ 164॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउच्चखेटस्य सद्भावे वर्षमेकं च निक्षिपेत् । तथैव नीचखेटस्य वर्षमेकं विशोधयेत् ॥ १६५॥
In addition 1 should be added in the number of years in the case of a Rāśi with an exalted Grah and 1 should be deducted from the number of years in the case of a Rāśi with a Grah in debilitation.
english translation
uccakheTasya sadbhAve varSamekaM ca nikSipet । tathaiva nIcakheTasya varSamekaM vizodhayet ॥ 165॥
