जैव्यां मानगुणोदयो मतिचय: कान्तिप्रतापोन्नति- र्माहात्म्योद्यममन्त्रनीतिनृपतिस्वाध्यायमन्त्रैर्धनम् ॥ हेमाश्वात्मजकुञ्जराम्बरचय: प्रीतिश्च सद्भूमिपै: सूक्ष्मोहागहनाश्रम: श्रवणरुग्वैरं विधर्माश्रितै: ॥ ८-१६ ॥
When Jupiter; rising qualities of devotion, collection of knowledge, grace, prominent radiance; wealth with advisors of study, royalty, politics, counsel, and elevated magnanimity; assemblage of gold, horses, sons elephants, and clothes; friendliness with virtuous kings, hermitage is destroyed from being able to examine the subtle, disgraces of the ear, and hostile by resorting to injustices.

When related to Venus, delighted in song and dance; acquisition of joy, fragrance, articles, food, drink, garments, excellent women, radiance, love, instruments, knowledge, the desired, and friends; cleverness in buying and selling, obtaining reserves from agriculture, acquisition of wealth, hostility by abandoning the customs of the crowds, sovereigns, and aboriginals, and sorrow from love.

Having obtained those related to Saturn. Obtaining asses, camels, birds, female buffalos, and old women. Respect produced in the administration of a group, village, or town; acquisition of inferior grain; obtaining a phlegmatic humour, envious, wind, anger, delusion, dirty, calamity, fatigue, and laziness; abuse from the servants, children, and wife; and also constrained by a deficient limb.

saurIM prApya kharoSTrapakSimahiSIvRddhAGganAvAptaya: zreNIgrAmapurAdhikArajanitA pUjA kudhAnyAgama: ॥ zleSmerSyAnilakopamohamalinavyApattitandrAzramA- nbhRtyApatyakalatrabhartsanamapi prApnoti ca vyaGgatAm ॥ 8-18 ॥

When the dashas are the best, the benefics perform and when they (the dashas) are termed Anishta, the malefics (perform). Thus, those dashas when mixed, the mixed (perform). The results of the lagna are similar to the lord of the lagna.

dazAsu zastAsu zubhAni kurvantyaniSTasaJjhAsvazubhAni caivam ॥ mizrAsu mizrANi dazAphalAni horAphalaM lagnapate: samAnam ॥ 8-19 ॥

In the chapter on technical terms of which (the planets) qualities are narrated. That which is action and livelihood of which is taught and produced from a yoga, aspect, and being in an astrological house. All the respective (principles) of that are to be considered in the dasha.

saMjJAdhyAye yasya yaddadraivyamuktaM karmAjIvo yazca yasyopadiSTa: ॥ bhAvasthAnAlokayogodbhavaM ca tattatsarvaM tasya yojyaM dazAyAm ॥ 8-20 ॥
