अवाच्यवादांश्च बहून्वदिष्यन्ति तवाहिताः । निन्दन्तस्तव सामर्थ्यं ततो दुःखतरं नु किम् ॥ २-३६ ॥
Your enemies, slandering your prowess, will use words which should never be uttered. What could be more painful than that?
english translation
तुम्हारे शत्रु तुम्हारे सार्मथ्य की निन्दा करते हुए बहुत से अकथनीय वचनों को कहेंगे, फिर उससे अधिक दु:ख क्या होगा?

avAcyavAdAMzca bahUnvadiSyanti tavAhitAH । nindantastava sAmarthyaM tato duHkhataraM nu kim ॥ 2-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम् । तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः ॥ २-३७ ॥
Either by being killed you will attain heaven, or by winning you will enjoy the earth. Therefore, O Arjuna, rise up with determination for fighting.

युद्ध में मरकर तुम स्वर्ग प्राप्त करोगे या जीतकर पृथ्वी को भोगोगे; इसलिय, हे कौन्तेय! युद्ध का निश्चय कर तुम खड़े हो जाओ।

hato vA prApsyasi svargaM jitvA vA bhokSyase mahIm । tasmAduttiSTha kaunteya yuddhAya kRtanizcayaH ॥ 2-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ । ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि ॥ २-३८ ॥
Viewing alike, pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat, you should get then ready for the battle. Thus you will not incur sin.
english translation
जय-पराजय, लाभ-हानि और सुख-दुःखको समान करके फिर युद्धमें लग जा। इस प्रकार युद्ध करनेसे तू पापको प्राप्त नहीं होगा।
hindi translation
sukhaduHkhe same kRtvA lAbhAlAbhau jayAjayau । tato yuddhAya yujyasva naivaM pApamavApsyasi ॥ 2-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएषा तेऽभिहिता साङ्ख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां शृणु। बुद्ध्या युक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि ॥ २-३९ ॥
O Partha, this wisdom has been imparted to you from the standpoint of Self-realization. But listen to this (wisdom) from the standpoint of Yoga, endowed with which wisdom you will get rid of the bondage of action.
english translation
हे पार्थ! यह समबुद्धि तेरे लिए पहले सांख्ययोगमें कही गयी, अब तू इसको कर्मयोगके विषयमें सुन; जिस समबुद्धिसे युक्त हुआ तू कर्मबन्धनका त्याग कर देगा।

eSA te'bhihitA sAGkhye buddhiryoge tvimAM zaRNu। buddhyA yukto yayA pArtha karmabandhaM prahAsyasi ॥ 2-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवायो न विद्यते । स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात् ॥ २-४० ॥
Here, there is no loss of effort, nor any accrual of evil. Even a little of this Dharma (called Karma Yoga) protects a man from the great fear.

मनुष्यलोकमें इस समबुद्धिरूप धर्मके आरम्भका नाश नहीं होता, इसके अनुष्ठानका उलटा फल भी नहीं होता और इसका थोड़ासा भी अनुष्ठान (जन्म-मरणरूप) महान् भयसे रक्षा कर लेता है।

nehAbhikramanAzo'sti pratyavAyo na vidyate । svalpamapyasya dharmasya trAyate mahato bhayAt ॥ 2-40 ॥
