श्रीभगवानुवाच । परं भूयः प्रवक्ष्यामि ज्ञानानां ज्ञानमुत्तमम् । यज्ज्ञात्वा मुनयः सर्वे परां सिद्धिमितो गताः ॥ १४-१॥
Shri Bhagwan said I will again declare that supreme knowledge, the best of all knowledge, by knowing which all the sages have attained the state of perfection beyond this world.
english translation
श्री भगवान् ने कहा -- समस्त ज्ञानों में उत्तम परम ज्ञान को मैं पुन: कहूंगा, जिसको जानकर सभी मुनिजन इस (लोक) से जाकर (इस जीवनोपरान्त) परम सिद्धि को प्राप्त हुए हैं।
hindi translation
zrIbhagavAnuvAca । paraM bhUyaH pravakSyAmi jJAnAnAM jJAnamuttamam । yajjJAtvA munayaH sarve parAM siddhimito gatAH ॥ 14-1॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइदं ज्ञानमुपाश्रित्य मम साधर्म्यमागताः । सर्गेऽपि नोपजायन्ते प्रलये न व्यथन्ति च ॥ १४-२॥
They who, having taken refuge in this knowledge, have attained to unity with Me, are neither born at the time of creation ( Mahasarg ) nor are they suffer at the time of dissolution ( Mahapralay ).
english translation
इस ज्ञान का आश्रय लेकर मेरे स्वरूप (सार्धम्यम्) को प्राप्त पुरुष सृष्टि के आदि(महासर्ग) में जन्म नहीं लेते और प्रलयकाल में व्याकुल भी नहीं होते हैं।

idaM jJAnamupAzritya mama sAdharmyamAgatAH । sarge'pi nopajAyante pralaye na vyathanti ca ॥ 14-2॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमम योनिर्महद् ब्रह्म तस्मिन्गर्भं दधाम्यहम् । सम्भवः सर्वभूतानां ततो भवति भारत ॥ १४-३॥
O scion of the Bharata dynasty, My own Maya ( Mahat Brahma or Prakrti consisting of the three Gunas ) is the Yoni ( place of origin).In that I place the seed. From that, occurs the birth of all beings.
english translation
हे भरतवंशोद्भव अर्जुन ! मेरी मूल प्रकृति(महद् ब्रह्मरूप) तो उत्पत्ति-स्थान है और मैं उसमें जीवरूप गर्भका स्थापन करता हूँ। उससे सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंकी उत्पत्ति होती है।

mama yonirmahad brahma tasmingarbhaM dadhAmyaham । sambhavaH sarvabhUtAnAM tato bhavati bhArata ॥ 14-3॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसर्वयोनिषु कौन्तेय मूर्तयः सम्भवन्ति याः । तासां ब्रह्म महद्योनिरहं बीजप्रदः पिता ॥ १४-४॥
O Kaunteya (Arjuna ),whatever forms are born from all the wombs, the Prakrti ( Mahat Brahma ) is their great womb and I am the seed-giving father.
english translation
हे कौन्तेय ! समस्त योनियों में जितनी मूर्तियाँ (शरीर) उत्पन्न होती हैं, उन सबकी योनि अर्थात् गर्भ है महद्ब्रह्म(मूल प्रकृति) और मैं बीज की स्थापना करने वाला पिता हूँ।

sarvayoniSu kaunteya mUrtayaH sambhavanti yAH । tAsAM brahma mahadyonirahaM bIjapradaH pitA ॥ 14-4॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्त्वं रजस्तम इति गुणाः प्रकृतिसम्भवाः । निबध्नन्ति महाबाहो देहे देहिनमव्ययम् ॥ १४-५॥
O Mahabaho ( mighty-armed Arjuna ), the three Gunas - Sattva, Rajas and Tamas that arise from the Prakriti. They bind Aatma ( the immutable self ) in the body.
english translation
हे महाबाहो ! प्रकृतिसे उत्पन्न होनेवाले सत्त्व, रज और तम -- ये तीनों गुण अविनाशी देही ( आत्मा ) को देहमें बाँध देते हैं।

sattvaM rajastama iti guNAH prakRtisambhavAH । nibadhnanti mahAbAho dehe dehinamavyayam ॥ 14-5॥
