उन्मादवत्प्रकुपितैश्चित्तदेहगतैर्मलैः । हते सत्त्वे हृदि व्याप्ते सञ्ज्ञावाहिषु खेषु च ॥ २ ॥

Just as in insanity (unmada), the bodily wastes/vitiated doshas (malas) located in the mind and body become severely aggravated. They overwhelm the mind, occupy the heart (the seat of consciousness), and spread into the channels that carry consciousness (sanjnavaha srotas).
