यद्युन्मादे ततः कुर्याद्भूतनिर्दिष्टमौषधम् । बलिं च दद्यात्पललं यावकं सक्तुपिण्डिकाम् ॥ ५६ ॥

If such a supernatural association is present in insanity, then one should administer therapies and medicines specifically prescribed for warding off those spirits. One should also offer ritualistic oblations (bali) consisting of minced meat (palala), barley preparations (yavaka), and balls of roasted grain flour (saktu-pindika).

स्निग्धं मधुरमाहारं तण्डुलान् रुधिरोक्षितान् । पक्वामकानि मांसानि सुरां मैरेयमासवम् ॥ ५७ ॥

The offerings should also include unctuous (fatty) and sweet foods, boiled rice grains smeared with blood, cooked or raw meat, and alcoholic beverages such as sura, maireya, and asava.

अतिमुक्तस्य पुष्पाणि जात्याः सहचरस्य च । चतुष्पथे गवां तीर्थे नदीनां सङ्गमेषु च ॥ ५८ ॥

Along with these, the flowers of atimukta (Hiptage benghalensis), jati (Jasminum grandiflorum), and sahachara (Barleria prionitis) should be offered. This ritual must be performed at crossroads, cow pens, or at the confluences of rivers.

निवृत्तामिषमद्यो यो हिताशी प्रयतः शुचिः । निजागन्तुभिरुन्मादैः सत्त्ववान्न स युज्यते ॥ ५९ ॥

The person of a strong mind does not indulge in meat and wine; who eats only healthy food, remains clean (both physically and mentally) does not become affected by either Nija or Agantu (endogenous or exogenous) Unmada.

प्रसाद इन्द्रियार्थानां बुद्ध्यात्ममनसां तथा । धातूनां प्रकृतिस्थत्वं विगतोन्मादलक्षणम् ॥ ६० ॥

Purity of the sense organs and their objects, intellect, soul and mind and normalcy of the tissues of the body are the features of (the person) cure of insanity.
