सर्पाणामेव विण्मूत्रशुक्राण्डशवकोथजाः । दोषैर्व्यस्तैः समस्तैश्च युक्ताः कीटाश्चतुर्विधाः ॥ १ ॥

Insects are born from putrefied urine, feces, semen, egg and cadaver of snakes only and are of four types; viz (three) with the features of individual doshas and the (fourth) with the features of all of them combined together.
