हुंकृतो ब्रह्मणा मूर्ती ततः स्थावरजङ्गमे । सोऽध्यतिष्ठन्निजं रूपमुज्झित्वा वञ्चनात्मकम् ॥ ३ ॥

Cursed by Brahma, he discarded his real physical form and resides in his deceptive form in both sthavara (inanimate, inorganic, vegetable) and jangama (organic, animal) substances.
