फेनिलं जन्तुमत्तप्तं दन्तग्राह्यतिशैत्यतः । अनार्तवं च यद्दिव्यमार्तवं प्रथमं च यत् ॥७॥
Water which has foam on it, which is creamy, which is hot to touch and which is extremely cold and which causes pain when it comes into contact with the teeth, should not be drunk. The water of the rainy season is called 'Artavajal'. Apart from this period, whenever it rains immediately, it is called 'Anartava' water and the water which falls from the sky for the first time during the rainy season should also not be drunk.
english translation
जिसके ऊपर झाग उठी हो, जो क्रिमियुक्त हो, स्पर्श में उष्ण हो तथा जो अत्यन्त शीतल होने के कारण दाँतों में लगकर पीड़ा उत्पन्न करता हो, उस जल को नहीं पीना चाहिए। वर्षाऋतु के जल को आर्तवजल कहते हैं। इस काल के अतिरिक्त जब भी तत्काल जल बरसे, उसे 'अनार्तव' जल कहते हैं और जो वर्षाकाल में भी आकाश से पहली बार बरसा हुआ जल है, उसे भी न पीयें।
