दारणं मर्मसन्ध्यादिस्थिते चान्यत्र पाटनम्। आमच्छेदे सिरास्नायुव्यापदोऽसृगतिस्रुतिः॥११॥
Darana – making the abscess burst by application of Alkalies (Kshara) whereas in other cases except the above, the treatment is – Patana - cutting open by sharp instruments. Cutting an unripe swelling leads to diseases of the veins and tendons, profuse bleeding, immense pain, tearing of the skin or Visarpa (spreading ulcers).

hk transliteration by Sanscriptरूजोऽतिवृद्धिर्दरणं विसर्पो वा क्षतोद्भवः। तिष्ठन्नन्तः पुनः पूयः सिरास्नाय्वसृगामिषम्॥१२॥
The pus remaining inside (the swelling) and getting increased in quantity, once again quickly burns the veins, ligaments, tendons, blood and muscles, just as a spark of fire burns away a hay stack.

rUjo'tivRddhirdaraNaM visarpo vA kSatodbhavaH। tiSThannantaH punaH pUyaH sirAsnAyvasRgAmiSam॥12॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविवृद्धो दहति क्षिप्रं तृणोलपमिवानलः। यश्छिनत्त्याममज्ञानाद्यश्च पक्वमुपेक्षते॥१३॥
Due to ignorance, the one (physician) who breaks open an unripe swelling and the one who neglects a ripe swelling (and doesn’t open it) is considered to be equivalent to a dog keeper / feeder (mean / unwise surgeon).

hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्वपचाविव विज्ञेयौ तावनिश्चितकारिणौ। प्राक् शस्त्रकर्मणश्चेष्टं भोजयेदन्नमातुरम्॥१४॥
Both being considered doing indiscriminate acts (doing things without reasoning). Before conducting the main procedure i.e., opening of an abscess, the patient should be given the food he likes.

zvapacAviva vijJeyau tAvanizcitakAriNau। prAk zastrakarmaNazceSTaM bhojayedannamAturam॥14॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपानपं पाययेन्मद्यं तीक्ष्णं यो वेदनाक्षमः। न मूर्च्छत्यन्नसंयोगान्मत्तः शस्त्रं न बुध्यते॥१५॥
The person who is accustomed to drinking alcohol may be given a drink of strong wine which should enable him to withstand the pain of the surgical process. Due to intake of food, the person doesn’t lose consciousness / faint (during the surgical procedure).
