रोगस्तु दोषवैषम्यं दोषसाम्यमरोगता । निजागन्तुविभागेन तत्र रोगा द्विधा स्मृताः ॥20॥

Disease-health:Disease is nothing but the vitiation of the dosas and their equilibrium state can be termed as health. Classification of disease according to origin: According to the origin, diseases can be classified into 2 groups as under: 1. Nij rogas (endogenous) 2. Aagantuj roga (exogenous). Nija rogas: In nija rogas, due to the irregular diet, dietetics and activities, dosas gets vitiated at first and then signs and symptoms of the disease condition will be seen. Aagantuj roga: Where as in agantuja rogas due to abhighāta (accident) signs and symptoms of the disease will be seen first and then followed the vitiation of the doshas.

रोग-स्वास्थ्य: रोग और कुछ नहीं बल्कि दोषों की गड़बड़ी है और उनकी संतुलन स्थिति को स्वास्थ्य कहा जा सकता है। उत्पत्ति के अनुसार रोग का वर्गीकरण: उत्पत्ति के अनुसार रोगों को निम्नलिखित दो समूहों में वर्गीकृत किया जा सकता है: 1. निज रोग (अंतर्जात) 2. आगन्तुज रोग (बहिर्जात)। निज रोग: निज रोग में अनियमित खान-पान, आहार-विहार और क्रियाकलापों के कारण सबसे पहले दोष खराब होता है और फिर रोग की स्थिति के लक्षण दिखाई देने लगते हैं। आगन्तुज रोग: जबकि अगन्तुज रोग में अभिघात (दुर्घटना) के कारण रोग के संकेत और लक्षण पहले दिखाई देंगे और उसके बाद दोषों की गड़बड़ी होगी।
