क्षीराद्द्वौ प्रसृतौ कार्यौ मधुतैलघृतात्त्रयः । खजेन मथितो वस्तिर्वातघ्नो बलवर्णकृत् ॥ २१ ॥

Recipe 1: Combine two prasṛta (approx. 192 ml) of milk with a combined total of three prasṛta (approx. 288 grams) of honey, sesame oil, and ghee. When thoroughly blended and churned using a wooden stirrer (khajena mathitaḥ), this preparation forms an excellent enema (vasti). It effectively pacifies Vata, enhances physical strength (bala), and improves complexion and skin radiance (varṇa-kṛt).

एकैकः प्रसृतस्तैलप्रसन्नाक्षौद्रसर्पिषाम् । बिल्वादिमूलक्वाथाद्द्वौ कौलत्थाद्द्वौ स वातजित् ॥ २२ ॥

Recipe 2: Take one prasṛta (approx. 96 g/ml) each of sesame oil, prasannā (clear scum of wine/beer), honey (kṣaudra), and ghee (sarpis). Mix these with two prasṛta (approx. 192 ml) of a decoction made from the roots of bilva and other associated trees (the bṛhat-pañcamūla / five greater roots) and two prasṛta of horse gram decoction (kaulattha). This formulation is highly potent in conquering aggravated Vata (vāta-jit).

पटोलनिम्बभूतीकरास्नासप्तच्छदाम्भसः । प्रसृतः पृथगाज्याच्च वस्तिः सर्षपकल्कवान् ॥ २३ ॥

Recipe 3 (Pañcatikta Vasti): Take one prasṛta each of the decoctions of paṭola (Trichosanthes dioica), nimba (Azadirachta indica), bhūtīka (Yavānī / Trachyspermum ammi), rāsnā (Pluchea lanceolata), and saptacchada (Alstonia scholaris). To this bitter liquid base, blend in one prasṛta of ghee (ājya) and a fine medicinal paste of mustard seeds (sarṣapa-kalka).

This celebrated five-bitter formulation (pañcatikta) acts as an exceptional therapeutic enema that eradicates conjunctivitis/oozing eye disorders (abhiṣyanda), parasitic worms (kṛmi), skin diseases (kuṣṭha), and urinary disorders including diabetes (prameha). Recipe 4: Take a total of four prasṛta (approx. 384 ml) composed of equal parts of sesame oil, cow's urine (go-mūtra), whey or the clear watery portion of curd (dadhi-maṇḍa), and sour fermented gruel (amla-kāñjika).

प्रसृताः सर्षपैः पिष्टैर्विट्सङ्गानाहभेदनः। पयस्येक्षुस्थिरारास्नाविदारीक्षौद्रसर्पिषाम्॥२५॥

Blend this liquid mixture thoroughly with a fine paste of ground mustard seeds (sarṣapaiḥ piṣṭaiḥ). This enema is specific for breaking up and relieving severe constipation (viṭ-saṅga) and abdominal distension/flatulence (ānāha-bhedanaḥ). Recipe 5 (Vṛṣya Vasti): Take one prasṛta (approx. 96 g/ml) each of payasyā (Kṣīravidārī / Ipomoea mauritiana), sugarcane juice (ikṣu), sthirā (Śālaparṇī / Desmodium gangeticum), rāsnā (Pluchea lanceolata), vidārī (Pueraria tuberosa), honey (kṣaudra), and ghee (sarpis).
