मातुश् चित्त क्षोभ भयात् कुल्यम् अल्प सत्त्वं छात्रं च लक्षण्यम् उपनिदध्यात् ॥
He shall keep as a representative of the prince one who is of the same family, of little valour and of beautiful appearance, lest the mother's mind may be agitated with wild apprehensions.
english translation
mAtuz citta kSobha bhayAt kulyam alpa sattvaM chAtraM ca lakSaNyam upanidadhyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋतौ च एनां रक्षेत् ॥
He shall justly protect her.
english translation
Rtau ca enAM rakSet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन च आत्म अर्थं कंचिद् उत्कृष्टम् उपभोगं कारयेत् ॥
He shall not provide himself with luxurious means of enjoyment.

na ca Atma arthaM kaMcid utkRSTam upabhogaM kArayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराज अर्थं तु यान वाहन आभरण वस्त्र स्त्री वेश्म परिवापान् कारयेत् ॥
As to the king, he may provide him with new chariots, horses, jewels, dress, women and palaces.
english translation
rAja arthaM tu yAna vAhana AbharaNa vastra strI vezma parivApAn kArayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयौवनस्थं च याचेत विश्रमं चित्त कारणात् । परित्यजेद् अतुष्यन्तं तुष्यन्तं च अनुपालयेत् ॥
When the prince comes of age, he may request the prince to relieve him from the intellectual worry. He may abandon the king, if he (the king) is displeased; and follow him if he is pleased.

yauvanasthaM ca yAceta vizramaM citta kAraNAt । parityajed atuSyantaM tuSyantaM ca anupAlayet ॥
