Arthashastra
यौवनस्थं च याचेत विश्रमं चित्त कारणात् । परित्यजेद् अतुष्यन्तं तुष्यन्तं च अनुपालयेत् ॥
When the prince comes of age, he may request the prince to relieve him from the intellectual worry. He may abandon the king, if he (the king) is displeased; and follow him if he is pleased.
english translation
yauvanasthaM ca yAceta vizramaM citta kAraNAt । parityajed atuSyantaM tuSyantaM ca anupAlayet ॥
