अश्व अध्यक्षेण रथ अध्यक्षो व्याख्यातः ॥
THE functions of the Superintendent of horses will explain those of the Superintendent of chariots.

azva adhyakSeNa ratha adhyakSo vyAkhyAtaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस रथ कर्म अन्तान् कारयेत् ॥
The Superintendent of chariots shall attend to the construction of chariots.
english translation
sa ratha karma antAn kArayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदश पुरुषो द्वादश अन्तरो रथः ॥
The best chariot shall measure 10 purushas in height (,i.e., 120 angulas), and 12 purushas in width.

daza puruSo dvAdaza antaro rathaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्माद् एक अन्तर अवरा आ षड् अन्तराद् इति सप्त रथाः ॥
After this model, 7 more chariots with width decreasing by one purusha successively down to a chariot of 6 purushas in width shall be constructed.

tasmAd eka antara avarA A SaD antarAd iti sapta rathAH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदेव रथ पुष्य रथ सांग्रामिक पारियाणिक पर पुर अभियानिक वैनयिकांश् च रथान् कारयेत् ॥
He shall also construct chariots of gods (devaratha), festal chariots (pushyaratha), battle chariots (sángrámika), travelling chariots (páriyánika), chariots used in assailing an enemy's strong-holds (parapurabhiyánika), and training chariots.
