teSAM nAmabhirevAkRtayaH prAyeNa vyAkhyAtAH ॥6॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र नखशस्त्रैषण्यावष्टाङ्गुले , सूच्यो वक्ष्यन्ते, (प्रदेशिन्यग्रपर्वप्रदेशप्रमाणा मुद्रिका, दशाङ्गुला शरारिमुखी सा च (या सा) कर्तरीति कथ्यते) । शेषाणि तु षडङ्गुलानि ॥७॥
Among them, the nail-cutter and the awl are eight-angula, the needles will be described (a ring of the size of the tip of the thumb, a ten-angula needle-mouth, and that is called a cutter). The remaining ones are six-angula.

tatra nakhazastraiSaNyAvaSTAGgule , sUcyo vakSyante, (pradezinyagraparvapradezapramANA mudrikA, dazAGgulA zarArimukhI sA ca (yA sA) kartarIti kathyate) । zeSANi tu SaDaGgulAni ॥7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतानि सुग्रहाणि, सुलोहानि, सुधाराणि, सुरूपाणि, सुसमाहितमुखाग्राणि, अकरालानि, चेति शस्त्रसम्पत् ॥८॥
They are well-grasped, well-made of iron, well-sharpened, well-formed, well-joined at the tips, not terrifying, and so on - this is the perfection of weapons.

tAni sugrahANi, sulohAni, sudhArANi, surUpANi, susamAhitamukhAgrANi, akarAlAni, ceti zastrasampat ॥8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र वक्रं, कुण्ठं, खण्डं, खरधारम्, अतिस्थूलम्, अत्यल्पम्, अतिदीर्घम्, अतिह्रस्वम्, इत्यष्टौ शस्त्रदोषाः । अतो विपरीतगुणमाददीत, अन्यत्र करपत्रात्; तद्धि खरधारमस्थिच्छेदनार्थम् ॥९॥
There, the eight faults of a weapon are: crooked, lame, broken, with a rough edge, too thick, too small, too long, and too short. One should take one with opposite qualities, except for a razor; that has a rough edge for cutting bone.

tatra vakraM, kuNThaM, khaNDaM, kharadhAram, atisthUlam, atyalpam, atidIrgham, atihrasvam, ityaSTau zastradoSAH । ato viparItaguNamAdadIta, anyatra karapatrAt; taddhi kharadhAramasthicchedanArtham ॥9॥
