मृणालबिसशालूककन्देक्षुप्रभृतीनि च । पूर्वं योज्यानि भिषजा न तु भुक्ते कदाचन ॥४६४॥
The roots of lotus, water-lily, and other similar plants should be used by physicians at the beginning, but should never be consumed by patients.

कमल, जलकुम्भी और अन्य इसी प्रकार की कंदों का उपयोग चिकित्सक को प्रारंभ में करना चाहिए, परंतु इन्हें रोगियों द्वारा कभी भी नहीं खाना चाहिए।
