इत्यष्टाङ्गमिदं तन्त्रमादिदेवप्रकाशितम् । विधिनाऽधीत्य युञ्जाना भवन्ति प्राणदा भुवि ॥४६॥
Thus, this Tantra, as revealed by Ādideva (the primordial deity), is comprised of the Eightfold Path. By studying it according to the prescribed method and practicing it, one becomes a life-giver on earth.
english translation
ityaSTAGgamidaM tantramAdidevaprakAzitam । vidhinA'dhItya yuJjAnA bhavanti prANadA bhuvi ॥46॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतद्ध्यवश्यमध्येयम्, अधीत्य च कर्माप्यवश्यमुपासितव्यम्, उभयज्ञो हि भिषग् राजार्हो भवति ॥४७॥
This must be studied with diligence and practiced accordingly; indeed, a physician who performs both the study and the practice is worthy of royal respect.
english translation
etaddhyavazyamadhyeyam, adhItya ca karmApyavazyamupAsitavyam, ubhayajJo hi bhiSag rAjArho bhavati ॥47॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभवन्ति चात्र- यस्तु केवलशास्त्रज्ञः कर्मस्वपरिनिष्ठितः । स मुह्यत्यातुरं प्राप्य प्राप्य भीरुरिवाहवम् ॥४८॥
He who is only knowledgeable in the scriptures but does not engage in practical application will bewilder the patient when faced with a real case, much like a cowardly person facing a dangerous situation.
english translation
bhavanti cAtra- yastu kevalazAstrajJaH karmasvapariniSThitaH । sa muhyatyAturaM prApya prApya bhIrurivAhavam ॥48॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्तु कर्मसु निष्णातो धार्ष्ट्याच्छास्त्रबहिष्कृतः । स सत्सु पूजां नाप्नोति वधं चर्च्छति राजतः ॥४९॥
He who is skilled in practical work but disregards the scriptures out of arrogance will not gain respect from the good people; instead, he will be scorned and treated with contempt like a criminal.
english translation
yastu karmasu niSNAto dhArSTyAcchAstrabahiSkRtaH । sa satsu pUjAM nApnoti vadhaM carcchati rAjataH ॥49॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउभावेतावनिपुणावसमर्थौ स्वकर्मणि । अर्धवेदधरावेतावेकपक्षाविव द्विजौ ॥५०॥
Both types of practitioners—one skilled in only theoretical knowledge but not in practical application, and the other proficient in practical work but lacking in theoretical knowledge—are like two Brahmins who, although versed in half of the Veda each, are incomplete and limited in their capabilities.
