अथातोऽध्ययनसम्प्रदानीयमध्यायं व्याख्यास्यामः ॥१॥
Now we shall discuss the chapter which deals with the classification of the Ayurveda and the order ॥ in which the venerable Dhanvantari discoursed on them to his pupils॥. Adhyayana-Sampradaniya.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रागभिहितं सविंशमध्यायशतं पञ्चसु स्थानेषु । तत्र सूत्रस्थानमध्यायाः [१] षट्चत्वारिंशत्, षोडश निदानानि, दश शारीराणि, चत्वारिंशच्चिकित्सितानि, अष्टौ कल्पाः, तदुत्तरं षट्षष्टिः ॥३॥
It has been stated before, that a hundred and twenty chapters have been distributed among the five parts or subdivisions (of the present work, in the following order Forty six in the part of Definitive Aphorisms ( Sutra-Sthana); sixteen in the part dealing with the Etiology of diseases (Nidana); ten in the part explaining the Anatomy and physiology of the human body (Sharira Sthana); forty in the part of Therapeutics Chikitsita; and eight in the part dealing with poisons and their antidotes (Kalpa-Sthana). In addition to these the Uttara-Tantra consists of sixty-six chapters.

prAgabhihitaM saviMzamadhyAyazataM paJcasu sthAneSu । tatra sUtrasthAnamadhyAyAH [1] SaTcatvAriMzat, SoDaza nidAnAni, daza zArIrANi, catvAriMzaccikitsitAni, aSTau kalpAH, taduttaraM SaTSaSTiH ॥3॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवेदोत्पत्तिः शिष्यनयस्तथाऽध्ययनदानिकः । प्रभाषणाग्रहरणावृतुचर्याऽथ यान्त्रिकः ॥४॥
"The origins of the Veda, the methods of teaching disciples, the rules for studying and giving instruction, as well as the practices for recitation, the handling of manuscripts, and the mechanical aspects are covered."

vedotpattiH ziSyanayastathA'dhyayanadAnikaH । prabhASaNAgraharaNAvRtucaryA'tha yAntrikaH ॥4॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशस्त्रावचारणं योग्या विशिखा क्षारकल्पनम् । अग्निकर्म जलौकाख्यो ह्यध्यायो रक्तवर्णनम् ॥५॥
"The section on the use of weapons, the preparation of arrows, the methods of alkaline treatment, the procedures involving fire, and the description of blood-colored phenomena are covered in this chapter."
