तत्र जिज्ञास्यं किं पित्तव्यतिरेकादन्योऽग्निः? आहोस्वित् पित्तमेवाग्निरिति? | अत्रोच्यते- न खलु पित्तव्यतिरेकादन्योऽग्निरुपलभ्यते, आग्नेयत्वात् पित्ते दहनपचनादिष्वभिप्रवर्तमानेऽग्निवदुपचारः क्रियतेऽन्तरग्निरिति; क्षीणे ह्यग्निगुणे तत्समानद्रव्योपयोगात् , अतिवृद्धे शीतक्रियोपयोगात् , आगमाच्च पश्यामो न खलु पित्तव्यतिरेकादन्योऽग्निरिति ||९||

और यहाँ कहा गया है: नहीं, पित्त के अतिरिक्त कोई अग्नि नहीं है। पित्त स्वभाव से ही अग्नि है, जो दहन और पाचन में भाग लेता है। उपचारों में, पित्त को अग्नि के रूप में ही देखा जाता है क्योंकि इसमें जलने और पाचन की गुणधर्मता होती है। जब पित्त कम होता है, तो उसे अग्नि को संतुलित करने वाले पदार्थों से उपचारित किया जाता है; और जब पित्त अत्यधिक होता है, तो ठंडक देने वाली विधियों का उपयोग किया जाता है। इसलिए, पित्त के अतिरिक्त कोई अग्नि नहीं होती।
