रसादेव स्त्रिया रक्तं रजःसञ्ज्ञं प्रवर्तते | तद्वर्षाद्द्वादशादूर्ध्वं याति पञ्चाशतः क्षयम् ||६||

sanskrit

"From Rasa (the essence of digested food), in women, the blood known as Rajas (menstrual blood) is produced. It begins after twelve years and gradually diminishes after fifty years."

english translation

"रस से ही स्त्रियों में रक्त, जिसे रजः कहा जाता है, उत्पन्न होता है। यह बारह वर्ष की आयु के बाद प्रवाहित होता है और पचास वर्ष की आयु के बाद धीरे-धीरे क्षीण होने लगता है।"

The menstrual blood (ārtava) is of fiery nature (agni), as the embryo is formed from the combination of fire (agni) and soma (the moon or water).

विस्रता द्रवता रागः स्पन्दनं लघुता तथा | भूम्यादीनां गुणा ह्येते दृश्यन्ते चात्र शोणिते ||९||

These are the characteristics of blood: it flows, is liquid, has color, pulsates, and is light. These qualities are observed in the blood and are similar to the qualities of the earth and other elements.

english translation

ये गुण रक्त में होते हैं: इसका प्रवाह, द्रवता, रंग, स्पंदन और हल्कापन। ये गुण रक्त में देखे जाते हैं और ये गुण पृथ्वी और अन्य तत्वों के गुणों के समान हैं।

रसाद्रक्तं ततो मांसं मांसान्मेदः प्रजायते | मेदसोऽस्थि ततो मज्जा मज्ज्ञः शुक्रं तु जायते ||१०||

From the essence of blood, flesh is produced; from flesh, fat is generated; from fat, bone is formed; and from bone, marrow is created, which then transforms into semen.

english translation

रक्त के रस से मांस उत्पन्न होता है; मांस से मेद (वसा) उत्पन्न होता है; मेद से अस्थि (हड्डी) बनती है; और अस्थि से मज्जा (अस्थि का गूदा) उत्पन्न होती है, जो बाद में शुक्र (वीर्य) में परिवर्तित होता है।
