Thus, I will explain the characteristics of the roots of the upward channels. These include the vital forces and fluids like water, blood, flesh, fat, urine, and semen, which have their respective domains; some have many specifics. Among them, for the vital channels, there are two: their roots are the heart and the channels carrying fluids. If injured, symptoms like shouting, fainting, confusion, tremors, or even death may occur. For the food-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the stomach and the channels carrying food. If injured, symptoms like distention, pain, aversion to food, vomiting, thirst, blindness, or even death may occur. For the water-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the palate and the throat. If injured, symptoms like thirst or sudden death may occur. For the fluid-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the heart and the channels carrying fluids. If injured, symptoms like dryness or death may occur, with their signs. For the blood-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the liver and spleen. If injured, symptoms like paleness, fever, burning sensation, jaundice, blood coming out, or red eyes may occur. For the flesh-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the muscles and skin. If injured, symptoms like swelling, flesh wasting, or death may occur. For the fat-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the lower abdomen and the kidneys. If injured, symptoms like sweating, heaviness, dryness of the palate, swelling, or thirst may occur. For the urine-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the bladder and the kidneys. If injured, symptoms like inability to urinate or swelling of the bladder may occur. For the feces-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the large intestine and the rectum. If injured, symptoms like pain, foul smell, or obstruction may occur. For the semen-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the breasts and the testicles. If injured, symptoms like impotence, delayed ejaculation, or blood in the semen may occur. For the menstruation-carrying channels, there are two: their roots are the uterus and the channels carrying menstruation. If injured, symptoms like infertility, inability to bear children, or cessation of menstruation may occur. In the case of urinary obstruction, treat the symptoms as previously described. If a foreign body is present, treat it with the method of wound management.
