Now, we shall explain the marma points in the upper abdomen. Among them, the marma located at the lower end of the large intestine, which is bound by the rectum, is known as "Guda," and injury here can lead to instant death. In the middle of the abdomen, the bladder, which is surrounded by slightly fleshy blood, can also lead to instant death, especially if injured; if injured from one side, the person may die from urine leakage. The navel, situated in the middle of the abdominal cavity, is also a marma point, and injury here can cause instant death. The heart, located at the gateway of the abdominal cavity, which is governed by the three gunas—sattva, rajas, and tamas—can also lead to instant death. At the base of the breasts, two fingers below the breast root, this marma can lead to death due to excessive kapha causing cough and breathlessness. Above the nipples, two fingers on either side of the breast, this point can lead to death from cough and breathlessness due to excess blood. The marma called "Apalāpa" is located below the shoulder blades, and injury here can lead to death due to accumulation of blood. In the urinary channels where the two main arteries flow, known as "Apasthambha," injury here can cause death from cough and breathlessness due to excess vata. Thus, we have described twelve marma points associated with the upper abdomen.
