सर्वैरेवादितः सर्पैः शाखादष्टस्य देहिनः । दंशस्योपरि बध्नीयादरिष्टाश्चतुरङ्गुले ॥३॥
If a person is bitten on the extremities by any type of snake, an arishta (protective amulet) should be tied four fingers' width above the site of the bite.

यदि किसी व्यक्ति को किसी भी प्रकार के सांप ने काट लिया हो तो काटे गए स्थान से चार अंगुल ऊपर अरिष्ट (सुरक्षात्मक ताबीज) बांधना चाहिए।

प्लोतचर्मान्तवल्कानां मृदुनाऽन्यतमेन वै । न गच्छति विषं देहमरिष्टाभिर्निवारितम् ॥४॥
Using a soft material, such as the bark or skin of a Plota tree, or any other similar substance, the poison is prevented from spreading through the body when restrained by protective amulets (arishtas).

One should burn the bite wound after excising it, especially in areas where a bandage cannot be applied. Suction, excision, and cauterization are highly valued as effective treatments in all cases.
