सुगन्धिः सुलघुः सूक्ष्मस्तीक्ष्णोष्णः कटुको रसे । कटुपाकः सरो हृद्यो गुग्गुलुः स्निग्धपिच्छिलः ॥४०॥

Guggulu is fragrant, light, subtle, sharp, hot, and pungent in taste. It has a pungent post-digestive effect, is mobile, beneficial for the heart, and is also unctuous and slimy.

english translation

गुग्गुलु सुगंधित, हल्का, सूक्ष्म, तीक्ष्ण, गर्म और कटु (तीखा) रस वाला होता है। इसका विपाक (पाचन के बाद का प्रभाव) कटु होता है, यह हृदय के लिए हितकारी, स्निग्ध (चिकना) और पिच्छिल (चिपचिपा) होता है।
