विषमं व्रणमङ्गे यत्तत् क्षतं त्वभिनिर्दिशेत् | प्रहारपीडनाभ्यां तु यदङ्गं पृथुतां गतम् ||२१||

A wound that is uneven in the limb is indicated as a cut. However, when the limb has become swollen due to striking or pressure, it is termed as such.

A wound with a semblance of health that is filled with blood and marrow, and the affected part of the body devoid of skin, occurs due to a struggle or some other cause.

When it is accompanied by the flow of dawn, it is said to be struck; when cut, broken, or penetrated, blood flows out from the wound.

The wind causes great pain there due to the depletion of blood. Therefore, the administration of oily drinks is beneficial there, and so is the application of oil.

One should apply well-prepared ointments made from slimy substances and grains, and one should also perform the procedure of applying warm pastes.
