यथा तथा प्रयोगेऽपि श्रेष्ठे श्रेष्ठगुणाः स्मृताः । तत्सर्वं तिक्तकटुकं कषायानुरसं सरम् ॥८॥

उसी प्रकार, इनके प्रयोग में भी श्रेष्ठ शिलाजतु के गुण श्रेष्ठ माने गए हैं। सभी प्रकार के शिलाजतु तिक्त (कड़वे), कटु (तीखे) होते हैं, जिनका कषाय (कसैला) अनुरस (पश्चात रस) होता है और यह सर (तरल) होते हैं।
