सावनो द्युगणः सूर्याद् दिनमासाब्दपास् ततः। सप्तभिः क्षयितः शेषः सूर्याद्यो वासरेश्वरः ॥
From the number of these elapsed days, the Rulers of the present day month and year can be known (by reckoning the order of them) from the Sun. Divide the number of elapsed terrestrial days by 7, and reckoning the remainder from the sun-day, the Ruler of the present day will be found.

sAvano dyugaNaH sUryAd dinamAsAbdapAs tataH। saptabhiH kSayitaH zeSaH sUryAdyo vAsarezvaraH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमासाब्ददिनसम्ख्याप्तम् द्वित्रिघ्नम् रूपसम्युतम्। सप्तोद्धृतावशेषौ तु विज्ञेयौ मासवर्षौ ॥
Divide the number of elapsed terrestrial days by the number of days in a month and by that in a year (i. e. by 30 and 360) multiply the quotients (rejecting the remainders) by 2 and 3 respectively, and increase the products by 1. Divide the results by 7, and reckoning (the order of the Rulers) from the Sun, the remainders will give the Rulers of the present (terrestrial) month and year respectively.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथा स्वभगनाभ्यस्तो दिनराशिः कुवासरैः। विभाजितो मध्यगत्या भगणादिर् ग्रहो भवेत् ॥
Multiply the number of elapsed terrestrial days by the number of a planet's revolutions (in a Kalpa); divide the product by the number of terrestrial days (in a Kalpa); and the quotient will be the elapsed revolutions, signs, degrees &c. of the planet. Thus the mean place of each of the planets can be found.

yathA svabhaganAbhyasto dinarAziH kuvAsaraiH। vibhAjito madhyagatyA bhagaNAdir graho bhavet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम् स्वशीघ्रमन्दोच्चा ये प्रोक्ताः पूर्वयायिनः। विलोमगतयः पातास् तद्वच् चक्राद् विशोधिताः ॥
In the same way, the mean places of the Śíghrochcha and Mandochcha (apogee) whose direct revolutions (in a Kalpa) are mentioned before, and those of the nodes of the planets can be found. But the places of the nodes, thus found, must be subtracted from twelve signs, because their motions are contrary to the order of the signs.

evam svazIghramandoccA ye proktAH pUrvayAyinaH। vilomagatayaH pAtAs tadvac cakrAd vizodhitAH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्वादशघ्ना गुरोर् याता भगणा वर्तमानकैः। राशिभिः सहिताः शुद्धाः षष्ट्या स्युर् विजयादयः ॥
Multiply the number of elapsed revolutions of Jupiter by 12; to the product add the number of the signs from the stellar Aries to that occupied by Jupiter; divide the amount by 60, and reckoning the remainder from Vijaya,[1] you will find the present Samvatsara.
