These processes are mentioned (from 45th Śloka to 54th) in detail, but, for convenience' sake, let (an astronomer) computing the elapsed terrestrial days from the beginning of the Tretá yuga, find easily the mean places of the planets.

At the end of this Kríta yuga the mean places of all the planets, except their nodes and apogees, coincide with each other in the first point of stellar Aries.

(At the same instant) the place of the Moon's apogee=nine signs, her ascending node=six signs, and the places of the other slow moving apogees and nodes, whose revolutions are mentioned before, are not without degrees (i. e. they contain some signs and also degrees).

The diameter of the Earth is 1600 Yojanas. Multiply the square of the diameter by 10, the square-root of the product will be the circumference of the Earth.

The Earth's circumference multiplied by the sine of co-latitude (of the given place) and divided by the radius is the Sphuṭa or rectified circumference (i. e. the parallel of latitude), at that place. Multiply the daily motion (in minutes) by the distance of the given place from the Middle Line of the Earth, and divide the product by the rectified circumference of the Earth.
