प्राग्गतित्वम् अतस् तेषाम् भगणैः प्रत्यहम् गतिः। परिणाहवशाद् भिन्ना तद्वशाद् भानि भुञ्जते ॥
Therefore, the motions of the planets appear towards the east, and their daily motions determined by their revolutions (by applying the rule of proportion to them) are unequal to each other, in consequence of the circumferences of their orbits; and by this unequal motion, they pass the signs (of the Zodiac.)

शीघ्रगस् तान्य् अथाल्पेन कालेन महताल्पगः। तेषाम् तु परिवर्तेन पौष्णान्ते भगणः स्मृतः ॥
The planet which moves rapidly, requires a short time, to pass the signs (of the Zodiac,) and the planet that moves slowly, passes the signs (of the Zodiac) in a long time. Bhagaṇa means that revolution through the signs (of the Zodiac which a planet makes by passing round) up to the end of the true place of the star called Reváti (ζ Piscium, from which end they set out.)

विकलानाम् कला षष्ट्या तत्षष्ट्या भाग उच्यते। तत्त्रिम्शता भवेद् राशिर् भगणो द्वादशैव ते ॥
Sixty Vikalás (seconds) make a Kalá (a minute) and sixty minutes constitute an Ansá (a degree.). A Rásí (a sign) consists of thirty degrees and just twelve Rásís (signs) make a Bhagaṇa (revolution.)

युगे सूर्यज्ञशुक्राणाम् खचतुष्करदार्णवाः। कुजार्किगुरुशीघ्राणाम् भगणाः पूर्वयायिनाम् ॥
In a great yuga each of the planets, the Sun, Mercury, Venus and and the Śíghrochcha (i. e. the farthest point from the centre of the Earth in the orbit of each of the planets) of Mars, Saturn and Jupiter moving towards the east make 4,320,000 revolutions (about the Earth).
