परमायुः शतम् तस्य तयाहोरात्रसम्ख्यया।आयुषो<र्धमितं तस्य शेषकल्पोड्यमादिम: ॥

And the age of Brahmá consists of a hundred years—according to the enumeration of day and night (mentioned in the preceding śloka). One half of his age has elapsed, and this present Kalpa is the first in the remaining half of his age.

paramAyuH zatam tasya tayAhorAtrasamkhyayA।AyuSo<rdhamitaM tasya zeSakalpoDyamAdima: ॥

कल्पाद् अस्माच् च मनवः षड् व्यतीताः ससन्धयः। वैवस्वतस्य च *मनोर् युगानाम् त्रिघनो गतः ॥

Out of this present Kalpa six Manus with their Sandhis, and twenty-seven yugas of the seventh Manu called Vaivaswata have passed away.

english translation

kalpAd asmAc ca manavaH SaD vyatItAH sasandhayaH। vaivasvatasya ca *manor yugAnAm trighano gataH ॥

अष्टाविम्शाद् युगाद् अस्माद् यातम् एतत् कृतम् युगम्। अतः कालम् प्रसम्ख्याय सम्ख्याम् एकत्र पिण्डयेत् ॥

Of the twenty-eighth great yuga, the Krịta Yuga has passed away. Let (a calculator,) reckoning the time from the end of the Krịta compute the number of years passed.

english translation

aSTAvimzAd yugAd asmAd yAtam etat kRtam yugam। ataH kAlam prasamkhyAya samkhyAm ekatra piNDayet ॥

ग्रहर्क्षदेवदैत्यादि सृजतो +अस्य चराचरम्। कृताद्रिवेदा दिव्याब्दाः शतघ्ना वेधसो गताः ॥

47,400 years of the Gods have elapsed in the creation of the God Brahmá, of animate and inanimate things, of the planets, stars, Gods, Demons, &c.

english translation

graharkSadevadaityAdi sRjato +asya carAcaram। kRtAdrivedA divyAbdAH zataghnA vedhaso gatAH ॥

पश्चाद् व्रजन्तो +अतिजवान् नक्षत्रैः सततम् ग्रहाः। जीयमानास् तु लम्बन्ते तुल्यम् एव स्वमार्गगाः ॥

Now the planets (such as the Sun) being on their orbits, go very rapidly and continually with the stars towards the west and hang down (from their places towards east) at an equal distance, (i. e. they describe equal spaces daily towards the east,)[1] as if overpowered by the stars (by reason of their very rapid motion caused by the air called Pravaha.)

pazcAd vrajanto +atijavAn nakSatraiH satatam grahAH। jIyamAnAs tu lambante tulyam eva svamArgagAH ॥
