आचरन् गर्हितं लोके ज्ञातीनां कर्म विप्रियम् । सरय्वां क्रीडतो बालान् प्रास्यदुद्वेजयन् जनम् ।। ९-८-१७ ।।

sanskrit

Nonetheless, he wanted to display himself as a miscreant, and therefore he would do things that were abominable in the eyes of the public and unfavorable to his relatives. He would disturb the boys sporting in the river Sarayū by throwing them into the depths of the water. ।। 9-8-17 ।।

english translation

फिर भी वह अपने आपको दुर्जन के रूप में दिखलाना चाहता था; अतएव वह ऐसा कार्य किया करता था जो जनता तथा उसके परिजनों की दृष्टि में गर्हित तथा प्रतिकूल होता। वह सरयू नदी में खेल करते बालकों को गहरे जल में फेंककर उन्हे तगं करता रहता था। ।। ९-८-१७ ।।
