एवं वसन् गृहे कालं विरक्तो न्यासमास्थितः । वनं जगामानुययुस्तत्पत्न्यः पतिदेवताः ।। ९-६-५३ ।।

sanskrit

In this way he passed his life in household affairs for some time, but then he became detached from material enjoyment. To renounce material association, he accepted the vānaprastha order and went to the forest. His devoted wives followed him, for they had no shelter other than their husband. ।। 9-6-53 ।।

english translation

इस तरह उसने कुछ काल तक घरेलू कार्यों में अपना जीवन बिताया लेकिन बाद में वह भौतिक भोग से विरक्त हो गया। उसने भौतिक संगति का परित्याग करने के लिए वानप्रस्थ आश्रम ग्रहण किया और फिर वह जंगल में चला गया। पतिपरायणा पत्नियों ने उसका अनुसरण किया क्योंकि अपने पति के अतिरिक्त उनका कोई आश्रय न था। ।। ९-६-५३ ।।
