यथानलो दारुषु भिन्न ईयते यथानिलो देहगतः पृथक् स्थितः । यथा नभः सर्वगतं न सज्जते तथा पुमान् सर्वगुणाश्रयः परः ।। ७-२-४३ ।।

sanskrit

As fire, although situated in wood, is perceived to be different from the wood, as air, although situated within the mouth and nostrils, is perceived to be separate, and as the sky, although all-pervading, never mixes with anything, so the living entity, although now encaged within the material body, of which it is the source, is separate from it. ।। 7-2-43 ।।

english translation

जिस तरह अग्नि काष्ठ में स्थित रहती है, किन्तु वह काष्ठ से भिन्न समझी जाती है, जिस तरह वायु मुँह तथा नथुनों के भीतर स्थित रहती है, किन्तु उनसे पृथक् मानी जाती है और जिस तरह आकाश सर्वत्र व्याप्त होकर भी किसी वस्तु से लिप्त नहीं होता उसी तरह जीव भी, जो भले ही इस समय भौतिक शरीर में बन्दी है, उस शरीर का स्रोत होते हुए भी उससे पृथक् है। ।। ७-२-४३ ।।
