श्रीशुक उवाच साधु पृष्टं महाराज हरेश्चरितमद्भुतम् । यद्भागवतमाहात्म्यं भगवद्भक्तिवर्धनम् ॥ ७-१-४ ॥
The great sage Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: My dear King, you have put before me an excellent question. Discourses concerning the activities of the Lord, in which the glories of His devotees are also found, are extremely pleasing to devotees. Such wonderful topics always counteract the miseries of the materialistic way of life. ॥ 7-1-4 ॥

महामुनि शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : हे राजा, आपने मुझसे अतीव श्रेष्ठ प्रश्न किया है। भगवान् के कार्यकलापों से सम्बन्धित कथाएँ, जिनमें उनके भक्तों के भी यशों का वर्णन रहता है, भक्तों को अत्यन्त भाने वाली हैं। ऐसी अद्भुत कथाएँ सदैव भौतिकतावादी जीवनशैली के कष्टों का निवारण करने वाली होती हैं। ॥ ७-१-४ ॥
