स वै बर्हिषि देवेभ्यो भागं प्रत्यक्षमुच्चकैः । अददद्यस्य पितरो देवाः सप्रश्रयं नृप ॥ ६-९-२ ॥

O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, the demigods were related to Viśvarūpa from his father’s side, and therefore he visibly offered clarified butter in the fire while chanting mantras such as indrāya idaṁ svāhā [“this is meant for King Indra”] and idam agnaye [“this is for the demigod of fire”]. He loudly chanted these mantras and offered each of the demigods his proper share. ॥ 6-9-2 ॥

english translation

हे महाराज परीक्षित! देवतागण विश्वरूप के पितापक्ष से सम्बन्धित थे, अत: विश्वरूप सबों के समक्ष अग्नि में घी की आहुति इन मंत्रों का उच्चारण करके दे रहा था—“इन्द्राय इदं स्वाहा” (“यह राजा इन्द्र के लिए है”) तथा “इदम् अग्नये” (यह अग्नि देव के लिए है)। वह मंत्र का उच्चारण उच्च स्वर से कर रहा था और प्रत्येक देवता को उसका उचित भाग प्रदान करता जा रहा था। ॥ ६-९-२ ॥
