कन्या च विन्देत समग्रलक्षणं वरं त्ववीरा हतकिल्बिषा गतिम् । मृतप्रजा जीवसुता धनेश्वरी सुदुर्भगा सुभगा रूपमग्र्यम् ।। ६-१९-२६ ।।

sanskrit

If an unmarried girl observes this vrata, she will be able to get a very good husband. If a woman who is avīrā — who has no husband or son — executes this ritualistic ceremony, she can be promoted to the spiritual world. A woman whose children have died after birth can get a child with a long duration of life and also become very fortunate in possessing wealth. If a woman is unfortunate she will become fortunate, and if ugly she will become beautiful. ।। 6-19-26 ।।

english translation

यदि अविवाहित कन्या इस व्रत को रखती है, तो उसे सुन्दर पति मिल सकता है। यदि अवीरा स्त्री (जिसका कोई पति या पुत्र नहीं है) इस अनुष्ठान को करती है, तो उसे वैकुण्ठ जगत को भेजा जा सकता है। जिस स्त्री की संतानें जन्म लेने के बाद मर चुकी हों, उसे दीर्घजीवी सन्तान के साथ ही साथ सम्पत्ति भी प्राप्त होती है। अभागी स्त्री का भाग्य खुल जाता है और कुरूपा स्त्री सुन्दर हो जाती है। ।। ६-१९-२६ ।।

विन्देद्विरूपा विरुजा विमुच्यते य आमयावीन्द्रियकल्पदेहम् । एतत्पठन्नभ्युदये च कर्मण्यनन्ततृप्तिः पितृदेवतानाम् ।। ६-१९-२७ ।।

By observing this vrata, a diseased man can gain relief from his disease and have an able body with which to work. If one recites this narration while offering oblations to the pitās and demigods, especially during the śrāddha ceremony, the demigods and inhabitants of Pitṛloka will be extremely pleased with him and bestow upon him the fulfillment of all desires. ।। 6-19-27 ।।

english translation

इस व्रत को रखने से रोगी पुरुष को रोग से मुक्ति मिल सकती है और कार्य करने के लिए स्वस्थ शरीर प्राप्त हो सकता है। यदि इस कथा को कोई अपने पितरों तथा देवों को आहुति देते समय विशेषतया श्राद्ध-पक्ष में सुनाता तो देवता तथा पितृलोक के वासी उससे अत्यन्त प्रसन्न होंगे और उसकी समस्त इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करते हैं। ।। ६-१९-२७ ।।

After one performs this ritualistic ceremony, Lord Viṣṇu and His wife, mother Lakṣmī, the goddess of fortune, are very pleased with him. O King Parīkṣit, now I have completely described how Diti performed this ceremony and had good children — the Maruts — and a happy life. I have tried to explain this to you as elaborately as possible. ।। 6-19-28 ।।

इस अनुष्ठान के करने से भगवान् विष्णु तथा माता लक्ष्मी उस पर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न होते हैं। हे राजा परीक्षित! मैंने पूरी तरह से बता दिया है कि दिति ने किस प्रकार इस व्रत को किया और उसे श्रेष्ठ पुत्र—मरुत्गण तथा सुखी जीवन—प्राप्त हुए। मैंने तुम्हें यथाशक्ति विस्तार से सुनाने का प्रयत्न किया है। ।। ६-१९-२८ ।।
