तद्दर्शनध्वस्तसमस्तकिल्बिषः स्वस्थामलान्तःकरणोऽभ्ययान्मुनिः । प्रवृद्धभक्त्या प्रणयाश्रुलोचनः प्रहृष्टरोमाऽऽनमदादिपूरुषम् ।। ६-१६-३१ ।।

As soon as Mahārāja Citraketu saw the Supreme Lord, he was cleansed of all material contamination and situated in his original Kṛṣṇa consciousness, being completely purified. He became silent and grave, and because of love for the Lord, tears fell from his eyes, and his hairs stood on end. With great devotion and love, he offered his respectful obeisances unto the original Personality of Godhead. ।। 6-16-31 ।।

english translation

परमेश्वर का दर्शन पाते ही महाराज चित्रकेतु के समस्त भौतिक कल्मष धुल गये और वे पूर्णत: पवित्र हो जाने के कारण अपनी मूल कृष्णचेतना (भक्ति) में स्थित हो गये। वे पूर्णत: पवित्र हो जाने के कारण शान्त एवं गम्भीर हो गये, ईश्वर के प्रेमवश उनकी आँखों से अश्रु झरने लगे और अन्त में उन्हें रोमांच हो आया। उन्होंने अत्यन्त भक्ति तथा प्रेम-पूर्वक आदि भगवान् को सादर नमस्कार किया। ।। ६-१६-३१ ।।

With tears of love and affection, Citraketu repeatedly moistened the resting place of the Supreme Lord’s lotus feet. Because his voice was choked in ecstasy, for a considerable time he was unable to utter any of the letters of the alphabet to offer the Lord suitable prayers. ।। 6-16-32 ।।

english translation

चित्रकेतु के प्रेमाश्रुओं से भगवान् के चरणकमल का आसन (चौकी) बार बार भीग जाता था। आल्हाद के कारण वाणी अवरुद्ध हो जाने से वे लम्बे अन्तराल तक भगवान् की उचित स्तुति में एक भी शब्द का उच्चारण न कर पाये। ।। ६-१६-३२ ।।

ततः समाधाय मनो मनीषया बभाष एतत्प्रतिलब्धवागसौ । नियम्य सर्वेन्द्रियबाह्यवर्तनं जगद्गुरुं सात्वतशास्त्रविग्रहम् ।। ६-१६-३३ ।।

Thereafter, by controlling his mind with his intelligence and thus restricting his senses from external engagements, he recovered suitable words with which to express his feelings. Thus he began offering prayers to the Lord, who is the personification of the holy scriptures [the sātvata-saṁhitās like the Brahma-saṁhitā and the Nārada-pañcarātra] and who is the spiritual master of all. He offered his prayers as follows. ।। 6-16-33 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् अपनी बुद्धि के द्वारा मन को वश में करके और अपनी इन्द्रियों को बाह्य विषयों से समेट कर वे अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए उपयुक्त शब्द ढूँढ सके। इस प्रकार वे उन भगवान् की स्तुति करने लगे जो साक्षात् शास्त्रों (ब्रह्म-संहिता तथा नारद पंचरात्र जैसी सात्वत संहिताओं) के स्वरूप हैं एवं सबों के गुरु हैं। उन्होंने निम्नवत् स्तुति की। ।। ६-१६-३३ ।।

Citraketu said: O unconquerable Lord, although You cannot be conquered by anyone, You are certainly conquered by devotees who have control of the mind and senses. They can keep You under their control because You are causelessly merciful to devotees who desire no material profit from You. Indeed, You give Yourself to them, and because of this You also have full control over Your devotees. ।। 6-16-34 ।।

english translation

चित्रकेतु ने कहा—हे अजेय भगवान्! यद्यपि आप को कोई जीत नहीं सकता, किन्तु उन भक्तों के द्वारा अवश्य जीत लिये जाते हैं जिनका अपने मन तथा इन्द्रियों पर संयम है। वे आपको इसलिए वश में रख पाते हैं क्योंकि आप उन भक्तों पर अकारण दयालु हैं, जो आपसे किसी प्रकार के लाभ की कामना नहीं करते। निस्सन्देह, आप उन्हें अपने आपको प्रदान कर देते हैं; इसलिए अपने भक्तों पर आपका भी पूरा नियंत्रण रहता है। ।। ६-१६-३४ ।।

तव विभवः खलु भगवन् जगदुदयस्थितिलयादीनि । विश्वसृजस्तेंऽशांशास्तत्र मृषा स्पर्धन्ते पृथगभिमत्या ।। ६-१६-३५ ।।

My dear Lord, this cosmic manifestation and its creation, maintenance and annihilation are all but Your opulences. Since Lord Brahmā and the other creators are nothing but small portions of a portion of You, their partial power to create does not make them God [īśvara]. Their consciousness of themselves as separate Lords is therefore merely false prestige. It is not valid. ।। 6-16-35 ।।

english translation

हे ईश्वर! यह दृश्य जगत तथा इसकी उत्पत्ति, पालन एवं संहार—ये सभी आपके ऐश्वर्य हैं। चूँकि ब्रह्मा तथा अन्य कर्ता (निर्माता) आपके अंश के भी क्षुद्र अंश हैं, अत: सृष्टि करने की उनकी आंशिक शक्ति उन्हें ईश्वर नहीं बना सकती। तो भी अपने को पृथक् ईश्वर मान बैठने की चेतना उनके अहंकार मात्र की द्योतक है। यह वैध नहीं है। ।। ६-१६-३५ ।।
