अपि स्विदसौ भगवानुडुपतिरेनं मृगपतिभयान्मृतमातरं मृगबालकं स्वाश्रमपरिभ्रष्टमनुकम्पया कृपणजनवत्सलः परिपाति ।। ५-८-२४ ।।

Mahārāja Bharata continued to speak like a madman. Seeing above his head the dark marks on the rising moon, which resembled a deer, he said: Can it be that the moon, who is so kind to an unhappy man, might also be kind upon my deer, knowing that it has strayed from home and has become motherless? This moon has given the deer shelter near itself just to protect it from the fearful attacks of a lion. ।। 5-8-24 ।।

english translation

भरत महाराज उन्मत्त पुरुष की भाँति बोलते रहे। अपने सिर के ऊपर उदित चन्द्रमा में मृग के सदृश काले धब्बों को देखकर उन्होंने कहा—कहीं दुखी मनुष्य पर दया करने वाले इस चन्द्रमा ने यह जानते हुए कि मेरा मृग अपने घर से बिछुड़ गया है और मातृविहीन हो गया है, उस पर भी दया की हो? इस चन्द्रमा ने सिंह के अचानक आक्रमण से बचाने के लिए ही मृग को अपने निकट शरण दे दी हो। ।। ५-८-२४ ।।
