भगवतो गुणमये स्थूलरूप आवेशितं मनो ह्यगुणेऽपि सूक्ष्मतम आत्मज्योतिषि परे ब्रह्मणि भगवति वासुदेवाख्ये क्षममावेशितुं तदु हैतद्गुरोऽर्हस्यनुवर्णयितुमिति ।। ५-१६-३ ।।

When the mind is fixed upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His external feature made of the material modes of nature — the gross universal form — it is brought to the platform of pure goodness. In that transcendental position, one can understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vāsudeva, who in His subtler form is self-effulgent and beyond the modes of nature. O my lord, please describe vividly how that form, which covers the entire universe, is perceived. ।। 5-16-3 ।।

english translation

जब मन प्रकृति के गुणों से निर्मित पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् के बाह्यरूप—स्थूल विश्व रूप—पर स्थिर हो जाता है, तो उसे शुद्ध सत्त्व की स्थिति प्राप्त होती है। उस दिव्य स्थिति में ही भगवान् वासुदेव को जाना जा सकता है जो अपने सूक्ष्मरूप में स्वत: प्रकाशित और गुणातीत हैं। हे प्रभो, विस्तार से वर्णन करें कि वह रूप जो सारे विश्व में व्याप्त है किस प्रकार देखा जाता है। ।। ५-१६-३ ।।

bhagavato guNamaye sthUlarUpa AvezitaM mano hyaguNe'pi sUkSmatama AtmajyotiSi pare brahmaNi bhagavati vAsudevAkhye kSamamAvezituM tadu haitadguro'rhasyanuvarNayitumiti || 5-16-3 ||
