मैत्रेय उवाच क्षमाप्यैवं स मीढ्वांसं ब्रह्मणा चानुमन्त्रितः । कर्म सन्तानयामास सोपाध्यायर्त्विगादिभिः ।। ४-७-१६ ।।

sanskrit

The great sage Maitreya said: Thus being pardoned by Lord Śiva, King Dakṣa, with the permission of Lord Brahmā, again began the performance of the yajña, along with the great learned sages, the priests and others. ।। 4-7-16 ।।

english translation

मैत्रेय मुनि ने कहा : इस प्रकार शिवजी द्वारा क्षमा कर दिये जाने पर राजा दक्ष ने ब्रह्मा की अनुमति से विद्वान साधुओं, पुरोहितों तथा अन्यों के साथ पुन: यज्ञ करना प्रारम्भ कर दिया। ।। ४-७-१६ ।।

वैष्णवं यज्ञसन्तत्यै त्रिकपालं द्विजोत्तमाः । पुरोडाशं निरवपन् वीरसंसर्गशुद्धये ।। ४-७-१७ ।।

sanskrit

Thereafter, in order to resume the activities of sacrifice, the brāhmaṇas first arranged to purify the sacrificial arena of the contamination caused by the touch of Vīrabhadra and the other ghostly followers of Lord Śiva. Then they arranged to offer into the fire the oblations known as puroḍāśa. ।। 4-7-17 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात ब्राह्मणों ने यज्ञ कार्य फिर से प्रारम्भ करने के लिए वीरभद्र तथा शिव के भूत-प्रेत सदृश अनुचरों के स्पर्श से प्रदूषित हो चुके यज्ञ स्थल को पवित्र करने की व्यवस्था की। तब जाकर उन्होंने अग्नि में पुरोडाश नामक आहुतियाँ अर्पित की। ।। ४-७-१७ ।।

अध्वर्युणाऽऽत्तहविषा यजमानो विशाम्पते । धिया विशुद्धया दध्यौ तथा प्रादुरभूद्धरिः ।। ४-७-१८ ।।

The great sage Maitreya said to Vidura: My dear Vidura, as soon as King Dakṣa offered the clarified butter with Yajur Veda mantras in sanctified meditation, Lord Viṣṇu appeared there in His original form as Nārāyaṇa. ।। 4-7-18 ।।

english translation

महामुनि मैत्रेय ने विदुर से कहा : हे विदुर, जैसे ही राजा दक्ष ने शुद्धचित्त से यजुर्वेद के मंत्रो के साथ घी की आहुति डाली, वैसे ही भगवान् विष्णु अपने आदि नारायण रूप में वहाँ प्रकट हो गये। ।। ४-७-१८ ।।

तदा स्वप्रभया तेषां द्योतयन्त्या दिशो दश । मुष्णंस्तेज उपानीतस्तार्क्ष्येण स्तोत्रवाजिना ।। ४-७-१९ ।।

Lord Nārāyaṇa was seated on the shoulder of Stotra, or Garuḍa, who had big wings. As soon as the Lord appeared, all directions were illuminated, diminishing the luster of Brahmā and the others present. ।। 4-7-19 ।।

english translation

भगवान् नारायण स्तोत्र अर्थात् गरुड़ के कन्धे पर आरूढ़ थे, जिसके बड़े-बड़े पंख थे। जैसे ही भगवान् प्रकट हुए, सभी दिशाएँ प्रकाशित हो उठीं जिससे ब्रह्मा तथा अन्य उपस्थित जनों की कान्ति घट गई। ।। ४-७-१९ ।।

श्यामो हिरण्यरशनोऽर्ककिरीटजुष्टो नीलालकभ्रमरमण्डितकुण्डलास्यः । कम्ब्वब्जचक्रशरचापगदासिचर्मव्यग्रैर्हिरण्मयभुजैरिव कर्णिकारः ।। ४-७-२० ।।

His complexion was blackish, His garment yellow like gold, and His helmet as dazzling as the sun. His hair was bluish, the color of black bees, and His face was decorated with earrings. His eight hands held a conchshell, wheel, club, lotus flower, arrow, bow, shield and sword, and they were decorated with golden ornaments such as bangles and bracelets. His whole body resembled a blossoming tree beautifully decorated with various kinds of flowers. ।। 4-7-20 ।।

english translation

उनका वर्ण श्याम था, उनके वस्त्र स्वर्ण की तरह पीले तथा मुकुट सूर्य के समान देदीप्यमान था। उनके बाल भौंरों के समान काले और मुख कुण्डलों से आभूषित था। उनकी आठ भुजाएँ शंख, चक्र, गदा, कमल, बाण, धनुष, ढाल तथा तलवार धारण किये थीं ये कंगन तथा बिजावट जैसे स्वर्ण आभूषणों से अलंकृत थीं। उनका सारा शरीर कनेर के उस कुसुमित वृक्ष के समान प्रतीत हो रहा था जिसमें विभिन्न प्रकार के फूल सुन्दर ढंग से सजे हों। ।। ४-७-२० ।।
