सदसस्पतय ऊचुः नरदेवेह भवतो नाघं तावन्मनाक्स्थितम् । अस्त्येकं प्राक्तनमघं यदिहेदृक्त्वमप्रजः ।। ४-१३-३१ ।।

sanskrit

The head priests said: O King, in this life we do not find any sinful activity, even within your mind, so you are not in the least offensive. But we can see that in your previous life you performed sinful activities due to which, in spite of your having all qualifications, you have no son. ।। 4-13-31 ।।

english translation

प्रधान पुरोहित ने कहा : हे राजन्, हमें तो आपके इस जीवन में आप के मन से किया गया भी कोई भी पापकर्म नहीं दिखता, अत: आप तनिक भी अपराधी नहीं हैं। किन्तु हमें दिखता है कि आपने पूर्वजन्म में पापकर्म किये हैं जिनके कारण समस्त गुणों के होते हुए भी आप पुत्रहीन हैं। ।। ४-१३-३१ ।।
