Srimad Bhagavatam
जडान्धबधिरोन्मत्तमूकाकृतिरतन्मतिः । लक्षितः पथि बालानां प्रशान्तार्चिरिवानलः ॥ ४-१३-१० ॥
Utkala appeared to the less intelligent persons on the road to be foolish, blind, dumb, deaf and mad, although actually he was not so. He remained like fire covered with ashes, without blazing flames. ॥ 4-13-10 ॥
english translation
अल्पज्ञानी राह चलते लोगों को उत्कल मूर्ख, अन्धा, गूँगा, बहरा तथा पागल सा प्रतीत होता था, किन्तु वह वास्तव में ऐसा था नहीं। वह उस अग्नि के समान बना रहा जो राख से ढकी होने के कारण लपटों से रहित होती है। ॥ ४-१३-१० ॥
