Srimad Bhagavatam
यस्मिन् कर्मसमावायो यथा येनोपगृह्यते । गुणानां गुणिनां चैव परिणाममभीप्सताम् ॥ २-८-१४ ॥
Then again, kindly describe how the proportionate accumulation of the reactions resulting from the different modes of material nature act upon the desiring living being, promoting or degrading him among the different species of life, beginning from the demigods down to the most insignificant creatures. ॥ 2-8-14 ॥

इसके आगे आप कृपा करके बताएँ कि किस प्रकार भौतिक प्रकृति के विभिन्न गुणों से उत्पन्न फलों का आनुपातिक संचय इच्छा करनेवाले जीव पर अपना प्रभाव दिखाते हुए उसे विभिन्न योनियों में—देवताओं से लेकर अत्यन्त क्षुद्र प्राणियों तक को—ऊपर उठाता या नीचे गिराता है। ॥ २-८-१४ ॥
