अत्रेरपत्यमभिकाङ्क्षत आह तुष्टो दत्तो मयाहमिति यद्भगवान् स दत्तः । यत्पादपङ्कजपरागपवित्रदेहा योगर्द्धिमापुरुभयीं यदुहैहयाद्याः ।। २-७-४ ।।
The great sage Atri prayed for offspring, and the Lord, being satisfied with him, promised to incarnate as Atri’s son, Dattātreya [Datta, the son of Atri]. And by the grace of the lotus feet of the Lord, many Yadus, Haihayas, etc., became so purified that they obtained both material and spiritual blessings. ।। 2-7-4।।
english translation
अत्रि मुनि ने भगवान् से सन्तान के लिए प्रार्थना की और उन्होंने प्रसन्न होकर स्वयं ही अत्रि के पुत्र दत्तात्रेय (दत्त, अत्रि का पुत्र) के रूप में अवतार ग्रहण करने का वचन दिया। और भगवान् के चरणकमलों की कृपा से अनेक यदु, हैहय इत्यादि पवित्र हुए और उन्होंने भौतिक तथा आध्यात्मिक दोनों ही वर प्राप्त किये। ।। २-७-४ ।।
