नारायणपरो योगो नारायणपरं तपः । नारायणपरं ज्ञानं नारायणपरा गतिः ॥ २-५-१६ ॥
All different types of meditation or mysticism are means for realizing Nārāyaṇa. All austerities are aimed at achieving Nārāyaṇa. Culture of transcendental knowledge is for getting a glimpse of Nārāyaṇa, and ultimately salvation is entering the kingdom of Nārāyaṇa. ॥ 2-5-16 ॥

सभी प्रकार के ध्यान या योग नारायण की अनुभूति प्राप्त करने के लिए हैं। सारी तपस्याओं का लक्ष्य नारायण को प्राप्त करने के निमित्त है। दिव्य ज्ञान का संवर्धन नारायण की झलक प्राप्त करने के लिए है और चरम मोक्ष तो नारायण के धाम में प्रवेश करने के लिए ही है। ॥ २-५-१६ ॥

तस्यापि द्रष्टुरीशस्य कूटस्थस्याखिलात्मनः । सृज्यं सृजामि सृष्टोऽहमीक्षयैवाभिचोदितः ॥ २-५-१७ ॥
Inspired by Him only, I discover what is already created by Him [Nārāyaṇa] under His vision as the all-pervading Supersoul, and I also am created by Him only. ॥ 2-5-17 ॥
english translation
उनके ही द्वारा प्रेरित होकर मैं भगवान् नारायण द्वारा सर्वव्यापी परमात्मा के रूप में उनकी ही दृष्टि के सामने पहले जो सृजित हो चुका है, उसी की फिर खोज करता हूँ और मैं भी केवल उन्हीं के द्वारा सृजित हूँ। ॥ २-५-१७ ॥

सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति निर्गुणस्य गुणास्त्रयः । स्थितिसर्गनिरोधेषु गृहीता मायया विभोः ॥ २-५-१८ ॥
The Supreme Lord is pure, spiritual form, transcendental to all material qualities, yet for the sake of the creation of the material world and its maintenance and annihilation, He accepts through His external energy the material modes of nature called goodness, passion and ignorance. ॥ 2-5-18 ॥

परमेश्वर अपने शुद्ध आध्यात्मिक रूप में सारे भौतिक गुणों से परे होते हैं, फिर भी भौतिक जगत की सृष्टि, उसके पालन तथा संहार के लिए वे अपनी बहिरंगा शक्ति के माध्यम से प्रकृति के गुणों को—सतो, रजो तथा तमो गुणों को—स्वीकार करते हैं। ॥ २-५-१८ ॥

कार्यकारणकर्तृत्वे द्रव्यज्ञानक्रियाश्रयाः । बध्नन्ति नित्यदा मुक्तं मायिनं पुरुषं गुणाः ॥ २-५-१९ ॥
These three modes of material nature, being further manifested as matter, knowledge and activities, put the eternally transcendental living entity under conditions of cause and effect and make him responsible for such activities. ॥ 2-5-19 ॥

भौतिक प्रकृति के ये तीनों गुण आगे चलकर पदार्थ, ज्ञान तथा क्रियाओं के रूप में प्रकट होकर दिव्य जीव को कार्य-कारण के प्रतिबन्धों के अन्तर्गत डाल देते हैं और ऐसे कार्यों के लिए उसे उत्तरदायी बना देते हैं। ॥ २-५-१९ ॥

स एष भगवांल्लिङ्गैस्त्रिभिरेभिरधोक्षजः । स्वलक्षितगतिर्ब्रह्मन् सर्वेषां मम चेश्वरः ॥ २-५-२० ॥
O Brāhmaṇa Nārada, the Superseer, the transcendent Lord, is beyond the perception of the material senses of the living entities because of the above-mentioned three modes of nature. But He is the controller of everyone, including me. ॥ 2-5-20 ॥

हे ब्राह्मण नारद, परम द्रष्टा परब्रह्म प्रकृति के उपर्युक्त तीनों गुणों के कारण जीवों की इन्द्रियों की अनुभूति से परे हैं। लेकिन वे मुझ समेत सबों के नियन्ता हैं। ॥ २-५-२० ॥
