सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति निर्गुणस्य गुणास्त्रयः । स्थितिसर्गनिरोधेषु गृहीता मायया विभोः ।। २-५-१८ ।।

The Supreme Lord is pure, spiritual form, transcendental to all material qualities, yet for the sake of the creation of the material world and its maintenance and annihilation, He accepts through His external energy the material modes of nature called goodness, passion and ignorance. ।। 2-5-18 ।।
english translation
परमेश्वर अपने शुद्ध आध्यात्मिक रूप में सारे भौतिक गुणों से परे होते हैं, फिर भी भौतिक जगत की सृष्टि, उसके पालन तथा संहार के लिए वे अपनी बहिरंगा शक्ति के माध्यम से प्रकृति के गुणों को—सतो, रजो तथा तमो गुणों को—स्वीकार करते हैं। ।। २-५-१८ ।।
